Kevin Rodel Course Description.

The focus of this workshop is solid wood furniture with an emphasis on traditional case construction.

This will cover frame and panel as well as solid-side construction methods. Through lecture and demonstration, Kevin covers machine and hand techniques for joinery; notably dovetails, mortise and tenons, case assembly order, fitting of doors and drawers and, as time allows, special finishing details and techniques such as, inlay, fuming, ebonizing and bleaching.

Each student designs and builds a modestly sized project such as a small cabinet with door or a table with drawer. The day or so will be devoted to design development, including the use of scale drawing.
