F.A.Q. few common questions you might have about our courses

What skill level is required to do ESCA courses?

ESCA caters for all skill levels, from total beginners to advanced woodworkers. Anyone is welcome to join our set-design courses such as Document/Jewellery Box, Chair, and Demi-Lune table. However, those wishing to work independently on their own projects in our special Bench Space Sessions are required to satisfy the School that a full understanding of the safe operation of the usual machinery is in place. Other students are fully supervised until such an understanding is met.

How do I find you?

ESCA School of Wood is situated in the beautiful Perth Hills area of Pickering Brook, only 30-35 minutes’ drive due east from the CBD. We are very easy to find – simply drive to the very end of Welshpool Road East, then turn right. Travel for another 6 km, then, turn right again into Carinyah Road, where, after 400metres, you will find ESCA on the right – right, right, and right again! ESCA is the green shed to the rear/left of the property.

Where can I stay, if necessary?

We have two luxury B&B rooms on the premises – see the Carinyah Retreat B&B website for more details. Special student discounts for course participants will apply. The Perth Hills abounds with accommodation suiting all budgets. Give Neil or Pam a call to help you with your decision, or visit the Perth Hills Visitor Centre online.

What do I wear?

Dress comfortably with closed-in footwear, and long hair tied back. Remove any necklaces and bulky, or loose jewellery. .

Do I need to bring tools along?

ESCA supplies the full range of top quality hand tools. However, if you do own your own tools, please feel free to bring them along.

How do I enrol and pay for courses?

The best way, at this stage, is to phone Pam, or email her. Pam will then send out an enrolment form to you with all the payment details. Direct deposits into the ESCA bank account is the best way to pay.
